VIA Rail offers a few special discounts on Tuesdays, and the federal government just launched deals that benefit anyone under 24 years of age looking to travel with the award-winning train.
the same discount applies to VIA Rail, with youth under 17 travelling free and young adults from 18 to 24 enjoying half-price journeys.

VIA Rail: Tuesday deals
The many folks riding the train over the age of 24 can enjoy select deals on Tuesday (May 5). For example, you can get 15 per cent off economy class in the Corridor on select trains in the Québec City–Windsor corridor for travel between May 19 and June 1.
You can also save 10 per cent on economy tickets for travel on board the Canadian, the Ocean and regional trains between May 19 and June 22.
What makes the Canadian an epic rail journey?
The Canadian by VIA Rail is a bucket-list train ride for people from across the globe, offering spellbinding perspectives of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains to the rolling wheat fields of the prairies and everything in between.
It was recently ranked as one of the Top 10 train trips in the world and the second-best in Canada. The Rocky Mountaineer placed sixth, with VIA Rail’s cross-country route in eighth.
The Canadian takes passengers from Pacific Central Station in Vancouver to Toronto Union Station and takes about four days to complete. The train may pick up some passengers at select stops but people don’t need to disembark at any time if they’ve booked the trip across the country.
