Bamurru Plains – Luxury Lodges of Australia

Bamurru Plains

Bamurru Plains is an extraordinary bush experience on the edge of Kakadu National Park in Australia’s Northern Territory. The Top End of the Northern Territory experiences some of the greatest climatic extremes (wet and dry particularly) of any region of Australia. The coastal floodplains of northern Australia are home to prolific bird and wildlife (Australia’s answer to the Okavango Delta) whilst Kakadu and Arnhem Land are significant strongholds for Aboriginal cultures.

This ecologically sensitive luxury camp focuses on environmental sustainability and key luxury standards offering the highest levels of comfort.

The twelve room camp safari lodge exudes ‘Wild Bush Luxury’ ensuring that guests are introduced to the sights and sounds of this spectacular environment in style and exclusivity. Each suite blends seamlessly with the surrounding bush, with a focus on the key luxury comforts, a supremely comfortable bed, innovative Australian cuisine and premium wines (no TVs, minibars or telephones to distract from the wildlife outside). It is the soft touches that surprise in this remote bush location and the understated luxury is very much in tune with the environment.

Bamurru’s team of passionate field guides offer a variety of activities from the lodge, including cruises on the Sampan River to spot crocodiles, four-wheel drive safaris, scenic helicopter flights over the floodplains and coastline, and tours to the rock art galleries of Arnhem Land.

The floodplains and savannah woodland offer one of Australia’s richest wildlife experiences: tens of thousands of Magpie Geese mingle with whistling kites, egrets, herons and buffalo on the floodplain, while Blue-winged kookaburras, parrots, cockatoos and agile wallabies inhabit the fringing woodlands.

In the evening, you’ll sit back with a sundowner drink and canapés and enjoy the soft ‘Wild Bush Luxury’ touches that are the Bamurru trademark. There is also an open bar, a small swimming pool and nature reference library. Bamurru Plains, its facilities and 300 km² of country are exclusively for the use of its guests – a quiet, privileged outback experience.

Welcome to Bamurru Plains, the all-inclusive Australian safari camp in the Northern Territory’s tropical Top End, home to some of the country’s most spectacular bird and wildlife.

The true luxury of Bamurru Plains is its location, a beautiful wilderness region of over 300 square kilometres, home to one of the largest crocodile populations in the world and the annual migration of over one hundred thousand magpie geese – an incredible sight and sound to behold.

An off-grid destination on a water buffalo station off the beaten track, the Bamurru Plains infrastructure occupies a small footprint with only twelve accommodation lodgings sharing exclusive access to the floodplain and savanna woodland on the Mary River, on the edge of Kakadu National Park.

Bamurru Plains opens exclusively for guests from March to October annually, and is closed during the peak monsoonal seasons each year.
