Lake Louise Hotels

Lake Louise Hotels
Whistler may have more high speed gondolas, more vertical feet, but Lake Louise has “skiable acreage” and jaw dropping views!
Plus dry champagne powder!
Some great options, both in the village of lake Louise, up the hill to the world famous lakeside area, or even a short drive away. Banff itself is another option, tho better to access Sunshine Village, Mt Norquay, Kananaskis ski areas. Banff has 3700 hotel rooms, but is a good 36 minute drive – exhausting after a day of skiing!
Lake Louise Area Hotels:
– October sample prices, because its off season in October, as I write this – prices WILL be higher, but it gives relative values.
Paradise Lodge and Bungalows – summer only, very close to the lake.
Baker Creek Mountain Resort – cabins under the watchful eye of Castle Mountain, a short drive down the 1A Highway $324
The Post Hotel – Swiss, need I say any more? Top notch – Great restaurant as well! $321
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise – Daddy of them all, arms stretched around Lake Louise, 530 rooms, an ice castle, an ice rink, an ice bar, an elevated, burning barrel to warm yourself by – and at the very beginning of the season, as soon as it gets cold but before the snow piles up – you can skate the whole lake from one end to the other! All winter, you can cross country ski all the way to the back of the lake, up beside the frozen waterfall climbers and back through the trees. This hotel dates back to the 1890s, in a variety of burnt to the ground incarnations – and is a worldwide classic. That said, you can stay in the village and be easily ten minutes closer to the ski hill, and drive up or taxi up to visit Chateau Lake Louise for a day trip. $679
HI Lake Louise Alpine Center – a classic mountain hostel – most affordable spot.
Moraine Lake Lodge – the turn off road is halfway up to Lake Louise, the lake – and another13 kms down the road – but it is the best view in the Rockies! Only summer tho, the road closes in the snows of winter.
Lake Louise Inn – best value hotel in Lake Louise area. $207
Mountaineer Lodge – right in village. $209
Castle Mountain Chalets – 25 minute drive from lake Louise, back towrd Banff on the 1A highway $249
Again, these are OFF SEASON, October prices – but you can see the budget level places, and easily tell that for luxury The Post Hotel and The Chateau lake Louise should be looked at more closely!
A few further out:
Emerald Lake Lodge, about 25 minutes AWAY from Calgary – middle of nowhere, absolutely gorgeous, and you can ski Golden (Kicking Horse) from there as well
Deer Lodge is being used as staff accommodations for the ski hill until their residences are rebuilt – but in 2 years, this is JUST down the road from the Chateau (up at the lake) also has a great outdoor hottub, amazing restaurant, and will save hundreds of dollars per night vs being next door, which you can stroll over to and eat at, skate at, drink at, etc.
