Go Beyond Melbourne

469 kilometres (291 miles)
3–4 days

Starting in Melbourne, the road leads to the Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges and Phillip Island, then onto the white beaches and wineries of the Mornington Peninsula. The last stop is the Bellarine Peninsula which can be accessed by a short 40-min ferry crossing across Port Phillip Bay. The journey winds through lush valleys and scenic coastal landscapes, where cellar doors and farm gates have plenty of local wines and fresh produce on offer. Visitors will have a chance to see native wildlife up close, and relax in beautiful parks and gardens along the way.

Highlights:

Healesville Sanctuary native wildlife zoo
Vineyards in the Yarra Valley
Balloon flights over the Yarra Valley
The Little Penguins at Phillip Island
Fruit-picking on the Mornington Peninsula
The historic villages of Sorrento and Portsea
Swimming with the dolphins at Sorrento
Visiting farmgates along the Bellarine Taste Trail
