I stayed here recently and it was magical! The ONLY caution is that it is a fair ways away from other activities, other resorts, perched on its own outcropping. It has a fun waterslide, beach sand spilling into the edge of the pool, gorgeous views all around, even the resort view was laden with palm trees, mountains in the distance, and enough overgrowth that you hardly even noticed the parking lot beneath! Coming out in the morning, the resort is shaped like a large square, and you can look THROUGH the check in desk to the ocean, you can look THROUGH the center of the hotel to see ocean. my only regret (and it means that I WILL be back), is that I was too tired from the sun and jetlag to see the manta rays, swim with the manta rays at night – it is a once in alifetime experience!

The property juts out into the ocean and the beautiful flowers – flower trees and bushes really, this is a mature, gorgeous property – combined with manicured lawns, constant ocean sights and sounds, make for a 360 degree paradise!

After a while, there is a certain sameness to good hotels, worldwide, but immersingly yourself into the Hawaiian culture makes for a memorable experience – and each Outrigger Hotel takes a different slant on celebrating the culture. Here we made kukui nut bracelets, there were ukelele classes, walks to explore the history of the property, and more. At the Kaanapoli Outrigger I was given a kukui nut necklace, and there is video that I will release eventually of me being taught the hula dance!
